Hello to the two people reading this and welcome to my FIRST EVER blog post! Thank you for being here and reading even this farrrr :3
In this post I will talk about a cool project I just finished and also about future plansssss
Starting from today I want to use my blog at least twice a month and update you on what I am currently working on and just whatever I feel like sharing with you at the moment. It is a new form of me to connect and share my art and hope I can stick with it for some time :,) I wanted to have a space where I can go a bit more in depth compared to social media, and I also would like to have this as some sort of archive of my art for myself.
A current important change in my life that will affect my art is, ART SCHOOL started againnn and for this first post I firstly want to first talk about our first project this year:
THE BOX ASSIGNMENT !!!!!!!!!!!
Basically, we had to present ourselves as an artist within the time frame of 5 minutes and everything had to fit inside of a cardboard rectangular box that we were provided with. That is all we were given and then we had two weeks to finish it...yep TWO WEEKS, it was hectic time I don’t really remember anymore, but anyways, I would like to share what I presented :3 (I feel so y2k writing a blog #2004 *3* )
“Softness/Violence” September 2022 , Performance/Sculpture
This is my final piece that I had after the presentation/performance. I only have a small (very cringe-inducing to myself) clip from my performance, but I will explain how it went.
I set up my box on the table and then opened the box and put it on the floor. I pulled out the blanket and draped it over the table and then carefully put the pillow on top. Then I put my hand inside of the pillowcase and pulled a knife out, which created a shocked reaction from the audience, which I really enjoyed. I place the knife neatly on the pillow and then pulled out a little cute metal tin in which I stored my custom band aids and stickers and the gold heart and slowly decorated the knife within the 5 minutes. I was very nervous and shaking during it, which some thought was intentional, but it was not, hahaha. I guess it added to the tension, because next to shaking I was also handling the knife quite carelessly.
That was my performance, and I was left with the decorated knife on top of the pillow.
What I really wanted to emphasize with this was my current theme in my art, softness and violence. There is a lot I want to say on this theme, and I feel like now would be a nice time to explain but also, I do not want this blogpost to be overfilled, so for now I will leave you hanging (Sorry one person that really read this ;( ) I will definitely go into this theme further in a separate blogpost all about this current theme I work with in my art! A big inspo for this project was my Illustration "Cutie Knife". You can see it at the top of this blogpost and you can read more by clicking this button.
So after a lot of work, a lot of cuts, a burned knife, several trial and errors, I conquered the first assignment with something I am proud of! And with this I also conclude and conquered my first blog post, thank you if you read this far, which means you care and which means I appreciate you, unless you are an asshole then I do appreciate your attention but not you!
